Oak Park Place Apartments are located in the heart a community rich in history and celebrity. One of the highlights of our extraordinary Oak Park neighborhood is the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, which is part of the wider Frank Lloyd Wright-Prairie School of Architecture Historic District. It was here that the renowned architect developed his famous prairie style home. Built in 1889 and 1898 respectively, Wright’s home and studio saw the launch of his independent career and now offer a fascinating glimpse into both his personal and professional life.

Nowadays the site is a National Historic Landmark and is open to the public. It offers three distinct tours: a Guided Interior Tour highlighting the design of his personal home; an Inside Wright’s Studio Tour showcasing the stunning studio balcony that has been newly opened to the public, and a Historic Neighborhood Walking Tour.

  • 10am-3:30pm for the Guided Interior Tour
  • 4pm for the Studio Tour
  • 9am-4:15pm for the Walking Tour

The Walking Tour is particularly engaging because of the vast number of Wright-designed buildings in the area. The Oak Park Tourist website generously offers what it calls “a “Walking Photo Tour” so that you can get a virtual look at his many masterpieces in the neighborhood. It’s also a great way to get to know the flourishing area surrounding Oak Park Place Apartments.

The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio is located within walking distance of Oak Park Place Apartments, and the Green Line and Metra Station are just steps away from our community. We’d love to hear from you – contact us today so you can reside within a stone’s throw of some of the richest architectural buildings in the world.
