Enjoy These May Art Performances in Oak Park

Spring is already in full swing here in Oak Park. Luckily, there are plenty of opportunities for you to get out and enjoy the creative arts this season. Here’s a look at three upcoming May art performances you don’t want to miss:

Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest: Mother’s Day Concert 

Celebrate Mother’s Day on May 12th with a performance at Concordia University Chapel by the Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest. The pre-concert conversation starts at 3 p.m., followed by a free reception after the concert. General admission tickets are $28.

Guests are also encouraged to bring children’s books and cash donations for the Infant Welfare Society. You can also check out their website for more performances throughout the year. 

Fast Food Chain

Now through May 18th, check out the talented cast of Fast Food ChainThis play follows a teenage boy from Chicago named Rudy whose biggest dream is to become a famous chef, but since his family struggles with food insecurity, Rudy and his sister Akari often find themselves in precarious situations.

Fast Food Chain was inspired by real students in Chicago who express their experiences through magical realism, African folktales, and creative storytelling. You can purchase your tickets online

Wright Plus Housewalk

Finally, on May 18th, head over to the Wright Home and Studio for the Wright Plus Housewalk. Guests will tour beautiful interior architecture designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and others, including eight private residences and two landmark buildings.

Four homes will make their debuts this year, including the Francis J. Woolley House, which was the catalyst for Wright’s development of Prairie style homes. Purchase tickets online
