Visit Hemmingway’s Bistro

Always dreamed of eating in a picturesque French bistro, sipping wine, listening to live music playing in the background? Hemmingway’s Bistro is the place and within walking distance from Oak Park Place Apartments. Having family over? Or just want to enjoy a stroll on a beautiful fall day? Hemmingway’s Bistro offers Sunday brunch in a true French bistro setting with mouth-watering fresh cuisine.

Hemmingway’s Bistro owned by Chef Christopher Ala will transport you back in time to a relaxed state of being with the smell of fresh-baked bread in the air, soft music playing, and the pleased sounds of diners enjoying their day. The bistro is known for its authentic fresh French cuisine that captures the true essence of French food. One could try an array of menu items such as Beef Wellington, Duck al’ Orange, Steak Frites or an array of seafood flown in from the East Coast daily. All in a low-key inviting, sincere, relaxing environment. They use only natural meats and free-range Amish chicken. According to the bistro, “Chef Ala visits the market three times a week and selects only the finest produce and freshest Midwest ingredients” to make amazing menu items and weekly specials.

Hemmingway’s Bistro is located just blocks from Oak Park Place Apartments in the Frank Lloyd Write Historical District. One of the allures of the bistro is the building. It was built in 1926 and is registered with the National Register of Historic Places. Originally built as a hotel and now known as The Write Inn because of such notable writers as Hemmingway that once stayed and wrote there. The Write Hotel is still located in the same building as the Bistro.
