Nestled in the Streeterville neighborhood, the Navy Pier is an iconic city landmark known for inspiring discovery and wonder. It celebrated its one-hundredth birthday in 2016, and the pier’s mission is to be a world-class public space that showcases the vitality of Chicago. Highlights include the Crystal Gardens, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., and Garrett Popcorn Shops.
Lincoln Park Zoo
The Lincoln Park Zoo dates back to the 1860s making it one of the oldest attractions of its type in the country. Admission is always free, and the staff is dedicated to connecting people with nature while also creating an environment where wildlife can thrive in the urbanizing world. The zoo is open 365 days a year. Favorite exhibits include Waterfowl Lagoon, Regenstein Macaque Forest, and the Helen Brach Primate House.
Encompassing 319 acres, Grant Park has been the site of many large historic civic events, and it’s also home to some of the most iconic landmarks in Chicago. The park’s centerpiece is the Buckingham Memorial Fountain built in 1927. Sites include the Shedd Aquarium, Art Institute of Chicago, and the Field Museum of Natural Science.
