Earth Day is celebrated the same day every year on April 22nd. It’s the largest environmental celebration, and this year marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. There are events coordinated globally, including events right here near our Oak Park Place Apartments. Here are the Earth Day events in Oak Park Illinois this year.

Earth-Friendly Themed Weekend

When: April 17-18, 10-5 p.m.; April 19, 12-5 p.m.

Where: Wonder Works Children’s Museum (6445 W North Ave, Oak Park, IL 60302)

Wonder Works Children’s Museum is a hands-on experience for children from birth to age eight. They are celebrating Earth Day all weekend long with earth-friendly themed activities. As a reminder, this is a shoe-free facility, so be prepared to wear socks while in the play area.

Earth Fest

When: April 18, 10 – 2 p.m.

Where: Public Works Center (201 South Blvd, Oak Park, IL 60302)

Oak Park is celebrating green living and sustainability with it’s 11th annual Earth Fest. There are over 50 businesses and organizations participating, including Eco-friendly vendors. Special recycling booths are available for recycling any eyeglasses, sunglasses, and hearing aids. Live entertainment and activities offer fun and learning for all ages.

Earth Day Celebration

When: April 22, 10-4 p.m.

Where: Oak Park Conservatory (615 Garfield St., Oak Park, IL 60304)

Oak Park Conservatory is having a special Earth Day celebration with events for children and adults. Pot a plant to take home, play in the Discovery Garden, and learn how to create nature play places for your home!
