Enjoy an Evening of Music at Winter’s Jazz Club

An easy drive from Oak Park Place is Chicago’s newest home for classic live jazz. We’re talking about Winter’s Jazz Club, and in 2017, it was called one of the “Top 10 Things to Do in Chicago” by Conde Nast Traveler. A variety of artists take to the stage six nights a week, and upcoming performances include:

Elaine Dame (March 1)

Elaine Dame is a singer who was called “a gem in the city’s jazz vocal scene” by Time Out Chicago. She has performed at more than three hundred clubs across the country, and her debut album received critical acclaim. Her set list includes “The Best is Yet to Come,” “There’s Always Tomorrow,” and “I See Your Face Before Me.”

Ryan Cohan Trio (March 6)

Ryan Cohan is a pianist and composer who blends classical and traditional jazz. He could read sheet music by the time he was five, and he began playing the violin at age nine. Ryan has been recognized by the Chicago Tribune for his “ingenuity and virtuosity.” His work ranges from solo pieces to creating scores for independent movies. He entertains audiences with songs such as “Arrival,” “Caravan,” and “Another Look.”

Denise Thimes Sextet (March 16 & 17)

According to Clark Terry, a legendary jazz trumpeter, “Denise ranks with the all-time greats such as Ella, Sassy, and Lady Day.” She has performed for both President George W. Bush and Queen Elizabeth. Denise is known for stealing the show, and her songs include “Tenderly,” “Beginning to See the Light,” and “Our Love is Here to Stay.”
