“There Goes the Neighbor Hood”
This unique historical tour uncovers the cloudy history of famous Chicago gangsters of a bygone era. “There Goes the Neighbor Hood” tour guests will travel by bus to visit the former homes of 13 gangsters in the Oak Park and River Forest neighborhoods. Expect to visit the homes of many familiar names, including Paul Ricca, Sam Giancana, “Tough Tony” Capezio, and “Machine Gun” Jack McGurn. While observing the exterior of the homes, your tour guide will regale you with the interesting history of the mob in this area of Chicago.
Meet the Tour Guide
The tour is led by an expert guide and historian, John Binder. Binder is quite knowledgeable about Chicago’s long history of organized crime. He’s completed extensive research and written two books on the subject. Binder has also personally visited almost all of the homes on the tour. He’s happy to share interesting facts and little-known details about secret passageways and hidden rooms.
Far from gimmicky, this tour provides a real history based on years of serious research. You’ll walk away from this tour much more knowledgeable about the fascinating history of gangsters from the Prohibition era through the 1990s.
