Did you know that for thousands of years, martial arts training has been the only program that strengthens all aspects of one’s health and fitness? If you would like to take a martial arts class, here are three great studios near Oak Park Place Apartments:
Enso (Oak Park)
According to the studio’s website, Enso is a Japanese word signifying a circle and it has no single, fixed meaning. It symbolizes a moment when the mind is free enough to let the body or spirit create. Owned by husband and wife Jay and Denise Nacu, Enso provides a welcoming space for students of all ages and abilities. Adults can take beginner or advanced classes in Shotokan karate, and the instructors focus on the three basic elements of traditional karate: Kihon (techniques), Kata (forms or formal exercises), and Kumite (sparring).
Master S.H. Yu Martial Arts (Oak Park)
For more than twenty years, S.H. Yu, a 9th-Dan, licensed 1st class certified, internationally recognized grandmaster, has upheld the ancient martial arts tradition in Oak Park. He and the other instructors believe in fostering a disciplined purpose, good health, and strength through practice. Adult programs include Kung Fu, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, and Karate.
